Pictures and videos

I like to take pictures and make time lapse movies of the beauty and places of interest I find here in the Potomac Highlands are of wild 'n' wonderful West Virginia. I'll keep adding to these galleries as I get more interesting shots done and processed. (With my PhD and Hollywood background, I feel compelled to flog them rather thoroughly before posting them.)

Time lapse videos

I live atop scenic Knobley Mountain in Mineral County. I can set my camera on a tripod and go do other stuff while it shoots. Later I process the frames and assemble them into movies for the web.

  • Time Lapse Movies
  • Places of interest

Like so many things on the web, this page is a work in progress.

  • "Watch this space."
  • (I have hundreds of images, put putting them together in a reasonable web page is a big task with a low priority.)

Virtual real estate in a parallel universe

"Say what?" you say? Well, I kid you not. In the course of my ramblings I found this other, parallel universe. There's boundless real estate there. Really nice stuff, some of it. Alas, we can only send our software probes there to return pictures, movies and such; we can never go there physically.

  • Early images of discovery. At first it was a process of learning computer graphics and inventing new techniques for generating and imaging landscapes.
  • The latest images of discovery. After years of research and invention, these worlds became, in come very important ways, more real than reality. "How? Why? you ask. "Don't get me started--it's how I got my PhD," is my answer.
  • Movies from this parallel universe. Yep. We can make movies there.
  • We call it the Mojoverse. The Oxford English Dictionary gives this definition: "mojo: magic, the art of casting spells." I think of the revelation of this parallel universe as an elaborate magic trick. Yet all these places exist in the timeless truth of mathematical logic. Just as 1 plus 1 equals 2 for all of time and space in this universe, a similarly deterministic calculation reveals these worlds. It's just a more complex calculation. So I'd say they really exist. Always have; always will. I just found out how to reveal them; the rest is a collective voyage of discovery.
